Fan The Flame (Day 146)
Isaiah 66v20 “and they will bring all your people from all the nations to My holy mountain in Jerusalem as an offering to the Lord…on horses, in chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, says the Lord. They will bring them, as the Israelites bring their grain offerings to the temple of the Lord in ceremonial clean vessels.”
The climax of this great prophecy is here. Drawn from all nations of the earth, Jew and Gentile, converts to Christ are now covenant brothers. Those who have been an influence and used to winning them, now bring them as an offering to the Lord. As a grain offering was given to the Lord, these soul-winners bring their harvest to Him. It is the greatest gathering of souls in history. The mention of horses and chariots, mules and camels on the transport list will bring God’s people from every corner of the earth to the place where God dwells.
A vast harvest of souls will be cleansed from sin through the Messiah’s mighty death and resurrection and presented to the Lord “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.”
Q. Are you a soul winner? How can we ever say we are evangelical without being evangelistic? It’s impossible!
There is a hymn which many of you might remember, some words in it are quite heart searching…
Must I go empty handed?
Must I meet my Saviour so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him,
Must I empty handed go?
The church at Laodicea were known by the Lord as “lukewarm”, they weren’t hot and they weren’t cold. Worldliness had watered them down and their spiritual temperature was low. The Lord said they were also blind and He commanded them to anoint their eyes with ointment so that they could see – Rev 3v18. In Laodicea there was a School of Medicine that was linked to the temple complex in the city who followed the teaching of Hierapolis who was known for its famous eye medicine which was made in tablet form. This had to be crushed down into ointment before application to the eyes. The Lord is saying, “I will give you My eye salve.”
All around us there are those who need to hear the greatest news ever, the Good News about Jesus, the gospel of the blessed God.
Ask the Lord to give you His eye salve so that you will see them. He will clear your vision. Then as you respond, He will help you win them and on that great harvest day you will bring them as a gift to Him.
Let’s take as many people with us.
Prayer – Lord, open my eyes to the lost.
