Fan The Flame (Day 149)
Isaiah 66v2b-23 “so shall your descendants and your name remain. And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
Not only will God’s new creation be permanent, but God’s people will also be permanent too. No more corruption will mar the Feasts of the Lord. The Feasts that once brought God such pain will now bring Him great joy. At the beginning of his book, Isaiah brough the word of the Lord to His people. Isaiah 1v13-14 “stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to Me, New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations – I can not bear your worthless assemblies.”
Now, Isaiah’s vision goes way on ahead, into the eternal. This following question was once asked to a professor called David Gooding “Q. Do you think time will stop in heaven?” He replied “no one knows exactly what time is, but the idea that in eternity there is no past and no future. There was a period in eternity when the Second Person of the Trinity was not yet human and eternity looked forward to the Incarnation.” Maybe in Isaiah’s use of phrases “New Moon” and “one Sabbath to another” is hinting at very special periods in the future eternal state.
What will our worship be like? What will we be doing in heaven? Someone once said we will be twanging a harp. We know that music is one of the highest expressions of the human spirit, its composers and performers are highly followed and acclaimed. If we that know and Love God, belong to God did nothing but worship God in music, I don’t think it could even enter our tiny minds what this is going to be like. We just can’t imagine here on planet earth with our tiny finite fallen minds, what it will be like to worship God in an eternal atmosphere of purity and holiness, with people from every land, nation, tribe and tongue worshipping from hearts filled with undiluted love to the Glory of God. Just think of it, no more darkness, death, or pain, no more day or night, no more temptation or sickness, no more tears or hurt….and the list goes on.
Reminds me of a song by Mercy Me:
I can only imagine, what it will be like, when I walk, by Your side. I can only imagine what my eyes will see, when Your face is before me. I can only imagine.
{Chorus} Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel, will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still, will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall, will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all, I can only imagine.
I can only imagine, when that day comes, and I find myself, standing in the Son. I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You, I can only imagine.
{Chorus} Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel, will I dance for You Jesus or in awe of You be still, will I stand in Your presence or to my knees will I fall, will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all, I can only imagine.
I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You.
